Berlin, 10 September 2024 – Starting 14 September, the Pullman Hotel Schweizerhof Berlin will become the stage for a remarkable art initiative. In collaboration with the Chair of Painting, Drawing, Space, and Interdisciplinary Artistic Strategies from the Caspar-David-Friedrich-Institute at the University of Greifswald, the Berlin-based HR Group is presenting contemporary works from seven artists from the Hanseatic city of Greifswald. The exhibition, titled Academy Selection 2024 by HR Group, spans seven floors and will be open until the end of February 2025.
The HR Group, known as Europe’s largest multi-brand hotel operator, has been involved in the arts and culture sector for many years. Through this temporary exhibition, the group provides young artists with a platform to explore and engage with current societal themes through their work. This exhibition is part of the celebrations marking the 250th birthday of painter Caspar David Friedrich, a leading figure of the German Romantic movement, and pays tribute to the contemporary creative scene from his birthplace. Prestigious institutions such as the Hamburger Kunsthalle and the Alte Nationalgalerie Berlin are also honouring Friedrich's work this year.
The following artists are participating in Academy Selection by HR Group 2024:
- Felix Jess, who presents sketchbooks of artist books,
- Annemarie Selleng, who focuses on human relationships,
- Linda Perthen, who showcases large abstract paintings,
- Johanna Herrmann, who presents a wind project,
- Prof. Christian Frosch, who explores ice cubes on paper,
- Niklas Washausen, who captures hotel details in Polaroid format,
- Maik Schrainer, who examines dynamic bodies.
The exhibition not only provides an insight into current developments in visual arts but also offers the opportunity to purchase the artworks directly. The HR Group supports the participating artists through a company-owned scholarship programme and by acquiring selected works for the corporate collection.
All interested parties are invited to explore the exhibited works and become part of this cultural initiative. The exhibition is open daily to visitors until 28 February 2025.
