Berlin/Davos, 25 March 2024 - As of 1 July 2024, the Berlin-based HR Group takes over the 5-star Grandhotel Belvédère in Davos (CH). The contract was signed in Davos and is another crucial step towards the expansion of HR Group, which already manages eight hotels in Switzerland. Last year it was announced that Steigenberger Hotels AG would be exiting the hotel with the Steigenberger Icons brand.
The hotel, built in 1875 is steeped in tradition and considered a landmark in Davos. It has 126 rooms, including 30 suites, as well as restaurants and bars, five conference rooms, a pool, and a wellness area.
Ruslan Husry, Owner and CEO of HR Group, is excited about the addition in Switzerland: "The lease of the Grandhotel Belvédère is an important milestone in our growth strategy. The hotel is an excellent addition to our portfolio in the 5-star segment. It allows us to demonstrate our understanding of the modern luxury hotel industry and being able to combine tradition and digitalization. I want to thank all participants who made this deal possible, especially, the owner, A. Steigenberger Immobilien GmbH, for the trusting cooperation."
For now, the hotel will operate as the Grandhotel Belvédère, without an association to an international brand. During this time, HR Group and the owners will conceptualize comprehensive renovation plans, that echo the modern luxury hotel industry, the traditional surroundings, and the famous location. The realization of this is planned for the period after the World Economic Forum 2025 (WEF) and will be launched in conjunction with an international brand.
Urs Bernd Brandtner, sole managing director of the LISCIA Group, to which the owning company belongs, comments on the successful completion: "We, on the lessor side, are delighted, together with HR Group, to develop a luxurious, sustainable and futureoriented hotel concept and can hardly wait for it to be realized. Davos will remain a landmark, and the hotel will be key in accommodating Swiss and international guests well into the future."
The employees have been offered continued employment, and contracts with existing suppliers should remain in place, or where necessary, be resigned. The hotel will continue to be managed by Steigenberger until 30 June 2024 and will be officially handed over to HR Group on 1 July 2024.
